Every piece is crafted by hand.
Nuno Felt is a technique that melds loose fiber to sheer fabric. This creates a light weight felt suitable for fine garment making.
I first hand dye pieces of sheer fabric of silk gauze, chiffon and organza in different shades. Each piece is laid out in a design of texture & color. A roving of silk, wool and tinsel is layered on top. The final stage of the design is a process of wet felting with soap, water and agitation. The agitation causes the fabric and fibres to bind and shrink creating a soft lightweight but warm garment with rippling dramatic textures and color.
My latest collection is created from exotic vintage Indian saris with rich hand-crafted colors, patterns, brocade and fibers.
Twenty or more different dyed ribbons & yarns are layered in a free style pattern on a water soluble fabric. The piece is hand stitched into shape and quilted. It is then washed several times to dissolve the fabric leaving a quilted mesh of different shades and texture.
Knitted polyester with eyelash fur trim.
